UMMS Faculty

Global REACH strives to help UMMS faculty at any stage in their career with resources to develop high-impact international partnerships and projects in global health. Our large network of Faculty Associates are eligible to compete for regular Global REACH funding to support international partnerships. We host regular on-campus events to bring the global health community across U-M together. We also offer an extensive training program for those looking to make global health research a major aspect of their careers.

Global REACH Faculty Associates: Our network of UMMS faculty interested and/or engaged in global health projects, Faculty Associates are eligible for Global REACH grant funding and receive our monthly e-newsletter and other occasional notices pertinent to the U-M global health community. Any UMMS faculty member can join.

Global REACH Faculty Affiliates: This network comprises faculty from other U-M health professions beyond the medical school to help connect researchers from across campus with similar interests and encourage interdisciplinary collaborations in global health. Faculty Affiliates receive our monthly e-newsletter. They are also eligible to apply for Global REACH grant funding if they are included on an application with a UMMS Faculty Associate. Any U-M faculty member outside of the medical school can join.

Partnership Development Grants: Biannual grants to help UMMS faculty members to strengthen new relationships with international colleagues. The awards can be used for travel to or from Ann Arbor to meet with partners in the early stages of a collaboration.

Faculty-Student Travel Grants: NEW! Small travel awards to help faculty engage UMMS student mentees (pursuing MD, MS, or PhD degrees) in their global health initiatives.

Global Health Research Certificate Program: An extensive training program to help faculty incorporate global health into their research portfolios through a combination of monthly seminars, mentorship, and an international fieldwork project.

Global Health Initiatives Forums: Monthly networking events for faculty and students interested in global health. Forums are typically themed around regions (e.g., China, Ethiopia) or topics (e.g., student projects, engaging residents and fellows in global health). Check back after the summer break for 2018-19 Forum events.
