Global Health Initiatives Forum: South America

Tuesday, April 25, 2017 - 5:30pm
Taubman Health Sciences Library, Room 2901

The Global Health Initiatives Forum series brings faculty from UMMS and other health-related schools together to share, discuss and foster international collaborations in various regions of the world. The series continues in April with an event focused on collaborations in South America. Professor of Internal Medicine and Global REACH Brazil Platform Director Michele Heisler, MD, MPA, will provide an introduction and overview. Professor of Health Behavior & Education John Piette, PhD, will discuss his longtime collaborations using mobile health technology for chronic disease management in Colombia. Professor of Internal Medicine Robert Hyzy, MD, will discuss his work with students in Peru through Amazon Promise. And Professor of Internal Medicine Marcos Montagnini, MD, will review his successful new palliative medicine collaboration in Brazil with the University of Sao Paulo.

Both faculty and students with a passion for global health and/or an interest in this region to join us. With plenty of time for questions, group discussion, and individual conversations, we anticipate a lively exchange of ideas. A light dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to Robyn Hodges:
