Texas State Senator recognizes the life and work of Sujal M. Parikh

Family, friends, and colleagues of beloved medical student, Sujal Parikh, continue to have conflicting emotions as they still mourn his passing yet find joy in celebrating the person he was and finding ways to move his life's work forward.

Almost two years after he was killed in a traffic accident while participating in a Fogarty Fellowship in Uganda, his family and friends - including a Texas State Senator - gathered again to remember him.  In early September, 2012, more than 350 stood witness in the Irving, Texas Hindu Temple Society as the Honorable Royce West presented a State Senate Proclamation recognizing Sujal's passion and persuasion in serving the underserved.

Included in the program highlights were video presentations from Sujal's memorial service in November, 2010 as well as from the annual symposiums in 2011 and 2012 named after him.
