Kolars: Global Health Initiatives Forums to have broader focus, more voices for 2017
As 2017 arrives, we at Global REACH are excited to introduce an all new program and format for our Global Health Initiatives Forum series. Our first event takes place Thursday, Jan. 26 at BSRB.
Whereas previous Forums have featured individual colleagues, our program in 2017 will highlight regions of the world and feature presentations by multiple faculty involved those respective areas. We begin this month by looking at East Africa. Among the presenters will be Jason Bell (Ob-Gyn) and Hari Conjeevaram (Hepatology), who have worked extensively in Ethiopia.
By broadening the scope of these events to focus on regions rather than individuals, we hope to involve more voices in the conversation, and ultimately foster more collaborations within the U-M community. To that end, we welcome anyone with a passion for global health and/or an interest in this region to join us. This includes both faculty and students, and with plenty of time for questions, group discussion, and individual conversations, we anticipate a lively exchange of ideas. Future events this year will focus on China, India, South America, Israel, West Africa, and more. I invite you to save the date:
Thursday, Jan. 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

We look forward to an engaging discussion to kick off the new year. More important, we look forward to even more partnerships and collaborations in global health in 2017.
Thank you and Happy New Year!
